X Factor runner-up Olly Murs has given his backing to Joe Mc Elderry’s bid to take the coveted Christmas No1 slot in the singles chart, despite losing out to the 18 year old Geordie on last weeks X Factor final.
The Essex lad confessed that he was feeling “gutted” to have lost out to Joe in Sunday night’s grand final.
But Olly said that he was “thrilled” for Geordie Joe and wants the 18-year-old to win the Christmas chart battle.
Murs told The Sun that he believed that the choice of the Hannah Montana song `The Climb’ was the correct one for the X Factor winner.
He said: “The song’s brilliant – and fitting for someone born of the show.
“Listen, I was on The X Factor to win it and I wanted to have that single as single. I wanted to get the Christmas Number One – I might never get another chance.”
Olly also revealed that he is hoping to record a track with his new “best mate” Robbie Williams.
He said: “I’d love to work with Robbie more – maybe a Christmas duet for next year!
